Operation Holiday is a philanthropy designed to provide clothing, personal items and toys to either families or children residing at The Salvation Army Whittier Corps shelter.
Most years we were given approximately 40 children from families to shop from their Christmas wish lists. Ten shoppers were given a budget of $100 per child, plus extra ten dollars to cover sales tax.
Gifts were labeled and put into festive bags or boxes. Members, Jan Sprague and Carolyn Salazar delivered these gifts to the Captain at the Salvation Army Whittier Corps.
Knowing that we helped provide Christmas to children who otherwise wouldn’t have gifts or requested basic necessities, and a few toys warm our hearts.
